Throughout his career, Paulinho received several prizes and was the theme of several stories published both in the Brazilian and international press.

The recognition of Paulinho’s work extends to other areas besides the press. He received several prizes given by institutions, companies, and associations. We may highlight the “Golfinho de Ouro” (the Golden Dolphin) of 1968, the first place in 1969 TV Record MPB festival, APCA Award of best show of 1982 with “Zumbido”, and of 1997, with “Bebadosamba”, the Shell award of 1992, the Sharp awards, nine trophies, among others. The importance of Paulinho’s work was also recognized by governmental agencies, among which we will mention here the medal received in 2001 of the Order of Cultural Merit, from the Brazilian government, and the title of Chevalier de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, given by the French government, in 1985. These are some of the many manifestations of recognition for his work, the token of gratitude for Paulinho’s work, which has been a significant part of the Brazilian popular music for four decades now.
